 Unit 6 shut down due to fire at ZNPP

As a result of a fire that occurred due to shelling, the last line, which is from the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant with the energy system of Ukraine, was disconnected, Energoatom reported. The only power unit, which had been working the day before, was unloaded and disconnected from the network. So far, it feeds only the needs of the station.

Over the past three days, the Russian occupation troops have continued intensive shelling of the territory around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. This was reported in the press service of NAEK Energoatom.

Dneprovskaya, 330 kV ZATES – Kakhovskaya and power lines 330 kV ZNPP – Melitopol. The AD 750/330 kV ZNPP was also damaged. Other lines of the ZAES/ZATES node were damaged even earlier.

“Today, September 5, 2022, as a result of a fire caused by shelling, the ZATES 330 kV transmission line was disconnected – Ferroalloy, that is, the last line that connected the ZAES/ZATES node with the energy system of Ukraine! As a consequence – the 6th power unit was unloaded and disconnected from the grid, which now feeds its own needs at the ZNPP,” the statement says.
