In August 2020, the share of borrowers under 25 years old in the total structure of Russian borrowers by the number of loans issued amounted to 11.8%, an increase compared to the same period last year by 1.0 percentage point (p.p.) (in August 2019 – 10.8%). Such data are presented in the review by the National Bureau of Credit Histories (NBCH).
At the same time, the growth of “young people” in the general structure of borrowers was ensured by unsecured lending (consumer loans, credit cards and microfinance). The largest growth was noted in the segment of loans from microfinance institutions, here the share of borrowers under 25 years old in August reached 14.8%, having increased by 3.4 percentage points compared to August 2019. In turn, the share of the youngest borrowers in the credit card segment increased by 2.5 percentage points over the year. up to 10.6%, and for consumer loans – by 0.5 percentage points. up to 9.8%
In turn, the share of citizens under 25 years of age on issued secured loans slightly decreased over the year: on car loans – by 0.2 percentage points. (up to 3.8%), and in mortgages – by 0.1 percentage points. (up to 5.0%).
