The SBU may be involved in the undermining of LNR financier Afanasievsky

An attempt was made on a participant in the occupied part of Luhansk region of the illegal armed group “LNR” Yuri Afanasevsky – a source in the Security Service of Ukraine informed RFE/RL about this on September 5.

As the interlocutor reported, an explosion occurred in the man's apartment. He confirmed that it was "the work of the SBU".

Afanasievsky received multiple shrapnel wounds to the head, neck, abdomen and is in intensive care in a serious condition.

Afanasievsky headed the "customs" group.

"This "person", who is a major general and an agent of the central apparatus of the FSB, is known for having become a "financier" heads of the so-called lnr. Leonid Pasichnyk. He "washed" funds to finance armed formations that fought against Ukraine», – a source in the SBU said.

Moscow Telegram channel Mash reported on September 5 that Afanasyevski was hospitalized in serious condition after an explosion in his apartment. He was placed in intensive care.

Previously, sanctions were imposed on Yury Afanasyevskiy, among others, by the European Union, Great Britain, Canada, Switzerland, and Japan.
