Russians began to attach an additional camera to reconnaissance drones: the media explained why

Russian operators of reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) began to install rear-view cameras on drones. The latter should “warn” them about the threat from Ukrainian anti-aircraft FPV drones.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Defense Express.

The first such modified instance was recently “landed “fighters of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. In the published photos, you can see a ZALA-type drone with a miniature camera. The drone is also equipped with the RHCP antennas used in FPV drones.

The aforementioned camera provides a view in the rear hemisphere and allows you to see the threat in the form of another drone and take countermeasures. The countermeasure, for example, can be an attempt to “break away” at speed, since the time in the air of the FPV drone is quite limited.

“In any case, the overall effectiveness of such a solution remains in question. But the very fact that that for the practical implementation of countermeasures against anti-aircraft FPV drones, the enemy moved rather quickly deserves consideration. And obviously the list of countermeasures will increase,” the publication writes, and suggests that the enemy may also try to attach small anti-aircraft missiles to UAVs.
