Finland's goal – to ensure that the Russian Federation ends the war against Ukraine.
Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen stated this, reports Yle.
According to her, Russia destroyed bilateral relations with Finland at the political level as well the relationship no longer exists. However, in matters of diplomacy and security, it is important to maintain communication on the border.
The minister added that the goal of Finland – achieve that Russia ends the war in Ukraine.
"Letnee vosstanie PMC “Wagner” showed that we need to be ready for sudden turns of events. But at the same time, we need to be prepared for the fact that the war will drag on,” Valtonen said.
She emphasized that Russia bears the responsibility for the war. According to her, Russia should also be forced to pay contributions for the destruction caused during the military actions.
Together with other Western countries, Finland acts within the framework of international law by helping Ukraine, Valtonen said.
