In August, a yacht capsized off the coast of Sicily due to a tornado. There were 22 people on board, seven passengers died. Among the victims of the accident – British tech magnate Mike Lynch and his daughter Hannah.
It became known about the disappearance of “British Bill Gates” on August 19. In the following days, search operations continued, during which divers recovered the bodies of seven victims. Now it has come to light that experts examining the wreckage of the sunken $40 million superyacht have been asked to increase security on the vessel because of concerns that sensitive data locked in its safes could be of interest to foreign governments, multiple sources told CNN.

It is noted that Lynch has been linked to British, American and other intelligence agencies through his various companies, including the cyber security company he founded Darktrace.
The sunken vessel, lying on the seabed at a depth of about 50 meters, is believed to have waterproof safes containing two super-encrypted hard drives that store highly classified information, including access codes and other sensitive data.
At first, local law enforcement feared that would-be thieves might try to access the wreckage to find expensive jewelry and other valuables still on board the yacht.
They are now worried that the wreckage, which is expected to be found in the coming weeks as part of a criminal investigation into the tragedy, will also interest foreign governments, including Russia and China. They asked that the yacht be carefully guarded both above and below the water.
