The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) announced Wednesday that 185 employees have been fired to date for applying for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) when they were not eligible. not right.

This is an increase of 65 cases since the CRA's last update in September.

CRA is reviewing approximately 600 cases in which current employees received the CERB during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This benefit amounted to $2,000 per month for Canadians whose jobs were lost or deskilled due to public health restrictions.

The CRA says that just because a person was employed by the agency does not mean they were not necessarily eligible for the benefit , given that some employees had temporary or student contracts.
