Project of own fighter cost Turkey $2 billion

The design development and construction of its own KAAN fighter cost Turkey $2 billion, the first 20 fighters are planned to be delivered to the country's Air Force in 2028.

This was announced CEO of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) Temel Kotil, reports Ukrinform with reference to Dünya publication.

“Currently, the amount spent on KAAN, including equipment, is 2 billion dollars… The cost of one of the American-made F-35 aircraft, with which KAAN has to compete, is approximately $130 million, Temel Kotil said. According to him, it is planned that TAI will supply 20 KAAN fighters to the Turkish Air Force in 2028. “In the future, we are talking about hundreds of KAAN fighters,” – added the head of TAI.
