The Parti Québécois asks the government to publish daily data on the number of hospitalizations attributable to COVID-19, by region and by hospital.
The increasingly alarming situation in certain sectors of the province requires the dissemination of a “fair and evolving” portrait of the situation in all establishments in Quebec, indicates the party’s health spokesperson, Joël Arseneau, by press release, Thursday.
“We are told that the number of hospitalizations related to COVID-19 is on the rise, and that our hospitals are at risk of overwhelming soon,” he said. However, on the government website, it is impossible to find data broken down by region or by hospital center, nor those concerning the reception capacity of establishments, whether in intensive care or not. However, this information is important when seeking the support and collaboration of the population. ”
According to the member for Îles-de-la-Madeleine, easy access to this data would not only allow citizens to identify establishments to avoid, but also to raise public awareness of the evolution of the situation in the regions.
“When we see, for example, that 95 of the 100 beds available for COVID patients are occupied in the hospital near home, it encourages more vigilance. We have to get Quebecers involved! ”Adds Joël Arseneau.
