The Parti Québécois is calling for the reopening of gyms across the province.

According to the head of the political formation, Paul St-Pierre-Plamondon, the drop in the number of declared cases of COVID-19 since the holiday season allows this relaxation.

At a press briefing on Thursday, he stressed the importance for Quebecers to be able to indulge in sports “which can be practiced in complete safety”.
“From our point of view, yes, businesses are important, but the mental and physical health of Quebecers [sont] just as, if not more important than economic health, ”explained Paul St-Pierre Plamondon.
According to information reported by The Journal of Quebec Tuesday, the Legault government is preparing to announce the reopening of non-essential businesses and professional care establishments during a press briefing at 5 p.m. Regions where there are few cases of COVID-19 should go orange and restaurants could open their dining rooms there.
The PQ also reiterated on Tuesday its wish to see the government return to a regional color code with regard to health restrictions.
