The police arrested a man who sent pornographic photos to a 10-year-old child via Telegram and invited him to meetings

Law enforcement officials reported suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine to a man who was found guilty of sexual crimes against a child. This is reported by the National Police Directorate in the Odesa region.

A local resident reported to the police about the commission of illegal actions against her 10-year-old daughter by an unknown man. The woman found a chat in the girl's mobile phone in which a stranger sent her pornographic content. As part of the launched investigation, the police established that a 38-year-old resident of Odesa, in order to gain the trust of a child whom he met on a mobile application, pretended to be a 12-year-old boy.

The perpetrator sent the girl video productions of a pornographic nature, which was confirmed by the examination, and scheduled meetings. They took place on the street in uninhabited places, where the accused molested the child, forcing her to commit acts of a sexual nature.

The man was detained in Uman, where he once lived. Law enforcement officers also found out that an indictment is currently being considered in one of the courts in Cherkasy region regarding his commission of similar crimes.

The man's commission of unlawful acts against the child was also confirmed by the results of a psychological and psychiatric examination and investigative measures with the victim using the “Green Room” method, which is based on international standards for the treatment of minors.

With sufficient evidence collected by law enforcement officers, the defendant was notified of suspicion under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

– under Part 2 of Art. 301 – distribution of images and video productions of a pornographic nature among minors;

– 3 Art. 156-1 – molestation of a child for sexual purposes;

– parts 4 and 6 Art. 153 – sexual violence against a person under the age of fourteen, regardless of their voluntary consent, in particular committed repeatedly.

At the request of the investigators, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the suspect. The offender faces up to 15 years or even life imprisonment for the crime.

«Law enforcement officers urge parents to always be attentive to their children, to pay attention to their children's communication in mobile applications and messengers», – the National Police emphasized.
