bruce wayne in the cast of The Penguin? We know more
Starting September 19, Max subscribers will be able to discover the first series derived from The Batman, the Matt Reeves film released in 2022. Centered on the character of the Penguin, this mini-series promises to be unsurprisingly very violent, since it will draw viewers into the mysteries of crime… Colin Farrell, unrecognizable as Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, will rise to the highest levels of Gotham City's underworld through 8 episodes that promise to be bloody. The public expects to see Bruce Wayne show up in a mask, and the various rumors surrounding the series also abound in this direction. Rumors that the showrunner of the series, Lauren LeFranc, and the director of the films, Matt Reeves, were keen to clarify, during an interview with SFX Magazine (via GamesRadar).
[Lauren LeFranc:] I understand why people want to see Batman, or why they think that if Batman isn't in a show or a movie, it doesn't have the same impact. I think it has a different impact. Matt's movies are seen through Batman's lens, so you're up high, looking down on the city. It's a different perspective. With Oz, you're out on the city streets, in the dust and the mud and the grime. He's looking up, he wants to fight his way to the top. So it's a different experience. I think Gotham is an interesting enough city that it's worth opening up more doors and going through them and seeing what you think.
[Matt Reeves:] I don't feel like there's anything fundamentally missing. I feel like this is an extension of what's already fundamentally there. We know this is Batman's world. You're going down a different path. So the specter of Batman is there. The specter of the Riddler is there. The specter of everything that's happened in the last film is there. It allows to have the bases. And that is exactly where we start.
Although the fans will be disappointed, the explanations of the two authors are relevant, and will allow us to adopt a point of view very different from that of Batman. It remains to discover the explanation for the absence of the bat…
