The Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi supported the abolition of the postponement for students who have reached the age of 30 and noted that since the beginning of 2021, the number of students over the age of 25 has increased by 55,000 people . He reported this on his Facebook page.

The minister emphasizes the trend when men use the opportunity to enter universities as a way to avoid mobilization.

The number of male students, who have already reached the age of 25, increased by 55 thousand in 2022 compared to 2021, 33 thousand of them choose to study at a master's degree. 

"The draft law, which is currently registered in the Verkhovna Rada The board aims to settle this matter. The proposed changes state that the deferment would not apply to men over 30 who enroll in an educational institution and pursue a non-consecutive higher education.

Instead, the deferment would remain for male students , who have not yet reached the age of 30 and are getting a consecutive education, as well as for teaching staff who work in educational institutions (by the main place of work at least 0.75 times the rate),” Lisovyi said. p>
