But is it bad?

The next generation of Google Pixel smartphones will continue to use platforms made by Samsung.

Next generation Pixel smartphones will rely on to a platform created by Samsung

The new SoC in the Pixel 8, which now appears under the code name Zuma, will receive the same modem as the Tensor G2. Earlier there were rumors that the Tensor G3 could switch to a 3 nm process instead of the current 5 nm process used to manufacture the G2.

It is still difficult to say whether such a relationship with Samsung is good news or bad. The current technical processes of the company, as shown by Qualcomm's experience last year, are worse than similar solutions from TSMC. But this does not mean that it will always be so.

As for the Tensor G3 itself, there is no data on its configuration yet, but Google would do well to significantly speed it up relative to the current generation , since Tensor G2 lags behind Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 by about half in a number of tests.

However, as we learned today, performance is definitely not decisive when choosing even an expensive smartphone , as sales of the current Pixel line are record-breaking for Google.
