< p>The Radio Frequency Directed Energy Weapon (RFDEW), developed by the UK Department of Defense Equipment and Supply (DE&S) and the Defense Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL), could enter service with the British Army in 2026. Shephar writes about it.
The RFDEW is reportedly designed to combat enemy drones on land, in the air, and at sea. The complex emits radio waves to disrupt or damage the drones' critical electronic components, causing them to fall. The cost of one shot is estimated at 10 pence (12 cents).

As points portal Defense Express, in this case, the “burner” of drones will be ahead of DragonFire in the speed of delivery to the army by one year, since the deployment in the British forces, the laser complex is planned for 2027.
“RFDEW and DragonFire can be considered as competitors, while the directed electromagnetic weapon has certain advantages over the laser at a similar “penny” cost of a shot”, — emphasized in the publication.
