The National Military Memorial Cemetery is planned to be laid by the end of the year, – Ministry of Veterans

Construction of the National Military Cemetery of the memorial cemetery “moves confidently in the practical plane”. The first sections of the memorial are planned to be laid by the end of this year.

This was announced by the Minister of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, Yulia Laputina.

"The National Military Memorial Cemetery is being created for the first time in history of our state. Therefore, we are counting on the fruitful cooperation of all relevant departments, – said Laputina.

According to her, the National Military Memorial Cemetery will be located on the territory of the Gatna Territorial Community in the Kyiv region, and will have a convenient location with access to public transport. The memorial will include a complex of buildings and areas: a military cemetery, a museum, a ritual building, a modern crematorium and other necessary facilities for the organization of honorable burials. The complex will combine both traditional burials and burials in a columbarium, the head of the Ministry of Veterans reported.

Currently, the minister says, a sketch project of the cemetery is being developed, and its construction will take place in several stages, "so that by the end of 2023 to put the first phase of the complex into operation and immediately begin the burial of Ukrainian heroes”.

BAGNET reminds that on May 31, 2022, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a draft law that provides for the creation of a National Military Memorial Cemetery in Ukraine, and also defines the procedure for organizing burials and reburials of Ukrainian military personnel.

On September 8, the Ministry of Veterans  reported that they decided to build a cemetery on a plot of land with an area of more than 200 hectares, which is located within the boundaries of the Gatna Rural Territorial Community along highway M05 "Kyiv – Odesa” in the Fastiv district of the Kyiv region. It will be a complex of buildings, structures and areas, which will consist of a military cemetery with traditional and columbarium burials, a ritual building, a museum complex of the Russian-Ukrainian war, an administrative and public building with areas for veterans' recreation and development, as well as facilities for the organization of honorable burials.

In the 2023 State Budget, 65.4 million hryvnias are allocated for its construction.
