The Colombian National Team now begins its operation towards the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, in 2026 After a long month of observing and talking with the base of the team that is abroad, the new coach, the Argentine Néstor Lorenzo, announced his first call-up.

In his first contact on the pitch with the players, Lorenzo will do a microcycle only with goalkeepers from the local environment, to bring them closer to the idea who will have the Selection under his command.

Álvaro Montero is the most experienced of the four called up in the Colombian National Team. The 27-year-old goalkeeper for Millonarios was part of the U-20 process and has been in the seniors since 2018. He has played three games, including one in the 2019 Copa América, against Paraguay.
