The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has updated the admission requirements for bachelor's, master's, and doctor of philosophy or arts degrees in 2024. Radio Maximum tells the details of what has changed.

The Ministry of Education and Science has determined indicators of regional coefficients, which will be taken into account when applicants enter higher education institutions of various regions. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

The MES increased the regional coefficient (the coefficient by which the competitive score is multiplied if the applicant chooses a higher education institution located in a certain region) for higher education institutions located in front-line and border regions, namely:

  • In Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv oblasts – by 1.07;
  • In Dnipropetrovsk and Poltava oblasts, as well as Buchansky district of Kyiv oblast – by 1.04;
  • In other areas – by 1.00.

In order to obtain a second degree master, it is possible to enter an educational institution without EVI and EFVV, but only through exams directly at the educational institution. This applies to the educational programs of all specialties, except “Law” and “International Law”.

For admission to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy or Doctor of Arts, you must pass EVI in 2024 with a score of at least 150 points for each of its components. Also, students who obtained a bachelor's degree in 2024 can take advantage of special conditions for admission to a master's program if they:

  • Registered and living in the temporarily occupied territory;
  • Living in settlements where active hostilities took place as of July 1, 2024;
  • Living in the temporarily occupied territory or moved from such territories after January 1, 2024.

Students can receive a recommendation for admission to a master's degree if they meet the requirements and enter the same institution of higher education where they earned their bachelor's degree. This applies to specialties that benefit from special support. You can view their list here.

If the institution of higher education does not have a master's program in the chosen specialty, students can apply to any relocated higher education institution or institution of higher education in Zaporizhzhya, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions.
