The militaries of Great Britain, Australia and the United States conducted a unique experiment in controlling unmanned ships

The navies of Great Britain, Australia and the United States conducted an experiment in controlling unmanned ships. This is reported by the Voice of America with reference to the Royal Navy of Great Britain.

It is noted that during the experiment, the unmanned ships were located off the coast of Australia, while the operators – at a distance of more than 15 thousand kilometers, in Portugal.

The AUKUS bloc, which includes three countries and was created to confront the growing influence of China in the Indo-Pacific region, participates in the introduction of new military technologies “unprecedented” pace, the Royal Navy said.

"The successes achieved, including the proven ability of all three AUKUS navies to command and control ships on the other side of the world in a tactically realistic scenario, show how close we are to realizing our ambition of creating a true manned and unmanned systems team crew capable of operating and ruling anywhere on the planet, from the bottom of the sea to space,” said James Parkin, director of development of the Royal Navy.

During the experiment, the “Great Sea Game” (Maritime Big Play) also tested unmanned equipment in simulated operational scenarios. In particular, the dropping of payloads from a drone was practiced.

The AUKUS countries plan to conduct new experiments by the end of the year, the Royal Navy reported. They are expected to involve about 30 unmanned systems as part of a large-scale demonstration of the technology in the Indo-Pacific region.

China has called AUKUS a dangerous alliance and warned that it could fuel a regional arms race, the statement added.< /p>
