Sources close to Melanie Martin, the fiancée from Aaron, they told TMZthat she was desperately trying to get him help during their on-and-off relationship, even though he kept quiet about his struggles with drug addiction.
According to the aforementioned outlet, Melanie enrolled Aaron in outpatient rehabafter confronting him in September and getting him to agree to treatment. At the time, on September 20, he raised concerns from his fans that he was inhaling compressed air off-camera during a live show.
Aaron agreed to hang out on the show, with the idea that it would be of great help in regaining some custody of their son, Prince, who is currently in the care of Melanie's mother.
The musician paused the program briefly, but was reinstated last week: Aaron was supposed to have an online session on Friday night, but he didn't show up. When someone from the rehab center came over to tell Melanie, she broke the tragic news to them.
It's possible that Aaron never showed up because he was already dead.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that there were several cans of compressed airin his bathroom and bedroom as well as prescription pills.
Prince's mother and his girlfriend released a statement: “My fiancé Aaron Carter passed away< /b>. I love Aaron with all my heart and it's going to be a journey to raise a fatherless son. Please respect my family's privacy as we come to terms with the loss of someone we love very much. We are still in the process of accepting this unfortunate reality. His thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.”

In 2019, Nick announced that he and his sister Angel had applied for a restraining orderagainst Aaron.
“After careful consideration, my sister Angel and I regret that we have been asked to seek a restraining order against our brother Aaron,” Nick wrote at the time . “We were left with no choice but to take all possible measures to protect ourselves and our family.”
Nick added that he still loved Aaron and hoped receive “the proper treatment he needs before anything happens to him or anyone else.”
Aaron reacted to the restraining order on Twitter that same day and shared, “So my brother just got a restraining order against me lol.”
“I haven't seen him in four years. And I don't intend to. I am shocked by the accusations being made against me and I wish no harm to anyone, especially my family,” Carter wrote.
