The King of Jordan will visit Canada this week to meet Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Prime Minister's Office confirmed that King Abdullah II will come to the country this Wednesday.

The King and Mr. Trudeau will discuss peace and security in the Middle East, including what can be done to ensure the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip.

According to the Prime Minister's Office, the two leaders also intend to discuss how to support a lasting ceasefire and the path forward to achieve lasting peace in the region. p>

The conflict between Israel and Hamas has has killed several thousand people since it began on October 7, the day Hamas militants carried out an attack on Israeli soil.

On Wednesday, King Abdullah II will make his seventh visit to Canada since his accession to the throne in 1999.

His most recent visit to the country dates back to January 2023, when he came to Canada to discuss Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
