At least one of the iPhone 17 models coming next year will feature its own Wi-Fi 7 chip, according to Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
What else is known about the iPhone 17
All current iPhone models feature a combined Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip supplied by Broadcom, but Kuo expects Apple to equip “almost all” of its products with its own Wi-Fi chip “within about three years”. The move will help the company reduce component costs and further enhance hardware and software integration, the analyst said.

Kuo said Apple's own Wi-Fi chip will support “the latest Wi-Fi 7 specification,” but did not provide any further details. The chip will be manufactured using TSMC's 7nm process, known as N7, the analyst added.
Wi-Fi 7 allows data to be transmitted in the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands simultaneously with a supported router, providing faster Wi-Fi speeds, lower latency, and more reliable connections. Wi-Fi 7 can deliver peak speeds of over 40Gbps, which is 4 times faster than Wi-Fi 6E.
