Smartphone The iPhone 16 Pro may get an unexpectedly large battery

As the release of the new iPhone 16 models, which Apple has planned for the fall, is approaching, more and more details are emerging about possible specifications, including an increase in the battery capacity of the iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro.

The latest news comes from Weibo user Instant Digital, who confirmed previous information from @MajinBuOfficial from February. According to these data, the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to have a 3577 mAh battery, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max — at 4,676 mAh.

Majin Bu previously reported that the batteries of the three models will have the following specifications: 3,561 mAh for the iPhone 16, 4,006 mAh for the iPhone 16 Plus, and 4,747 mAh for the iPhone 16 Pro Max. This data is in line with information about the iPhone 16 Pro Max, confirming that it will have the largest battery capacity among the new models.

The information partially coincides, but also contradicts the predictions of the famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He noted that Apple will use power cells with increased energy density, which will allow to increase the capacity of batteries in phones of the same size. According to Kuo, the iPhone 16 will receive a 3561 mAh battery (an increase of 6.3%), the iPhone 16 Plus — by 4006 mAh (a decrease of 8.6%), iPhone 16 Pro — by 3355 mAh (increase by 2.5%), and iPhone 16 Pro Max — by 4676 mAh (an increase of 5.7%).

A Weibo leak from Instant Digital hints that the iPhone 16 Pro will have a larger battery capacity than the iPhone 16, contradicting Kuo's predictions. This seems logical, since both models have a similar size, and therefore batteries with a similar capacity. However, the battery capacity in the iPhone 16 Pro Max will increase by 8.7% compared to the iPhone 15 Pro (4422 mAh), which will make it the most powerful and durable.

As for the charging speed, the new batteries with higher capacity, likely to support 40W fast charging via cable and 20W via MagSafe. While it's not as fast as the 45W Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra or the 67W OnePlus Open, it's nice to see Apple improving both battery capacity and charging speed to keep up with the competition.

The iPhone 16's official unveiling isn't long, so expect even more specs and design details in the coming weeks, especially as third-party accessories become available.
