For the first time in Israel, the Sea Dome was used to intercept a drone. Clips published on social networks showed two interceptor missiles launched from a Sa'ar 6 class corvette. About this writes The times of Israel.

It is reported that last night in Eilat, in southern Israel, the Israeli army used the C-Dome naval defense system (a naval version of the Iron Dome) for the first time to intercept a drone.

The IDF said that The Navy tracked the target before successfully shooting it down using the C-Dome system.

According to the IDF, the drone flew into Israeli airspace from an eastern direction. In recent weeks, there have been several drone attacks in the Eilat area carried out by an Iran-backed group in Iraq. There were no reports of damage or casualties as a result of the incident.

Beachgoers in Eilat filmed the moment the UAV was intercepted. Videos posted on social networks showed two interceptor missiles launched from a Sa'ar 6-class corvette.

Iran-backed groups, including Yemen's Houthis, the Islamic Resistance of Iraq and a group in Syria linked to Lebanese Hezbollah, have attacked Eilat repeatedly since October 7.

According to the ministry Israeli defense, the C-Dome, like the ground-based version of the Iron Dome, is capable of shooting down missiles, cruise missiles and drones.

The Navy's Sa'ar 6-class corvettes are typically tasked with guarding gas platforms off the coast of Israel, and also its shipping routes.

BAGNET recalls that in March, Israel spoke about a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
