When buying fuel for the Ukrainian market, traders used the official exchange rate from the NBU. Considering that since yesterday the NBU has released the exchange rate and the hryvnia has lost 25% of its value, fuel prices should now also rise, Bigmir reports.
At the moment, the hryvnia exchange rate is 36.5686 hryvnia/dollar, and before that it was 29.2549 hryvnia per dollar. Since fuel was a critical product, traders bought it abroad at the official rate from the NBU and now, accordingly, the purchase price of fuel will increase, which will naturally affect retail prices.
Head of A-95 Consulting Group Sergey Kuyun notes that if traders start buying the dollar at 37 hryvnia and the euro at 39 hryvnia, then the cost of fuel will increase by about 10 hryvnia.
“It will be extremely problematic to keep 58 hryvnia/l for diesel fuel, but ( price) 60-62 UAH/l looks very realistic (now the average is 55 UAH/l). Gasoline will also not be kept within the limits of 52 UAH/l. The range of 55-57 UAH/l is more probable,” Sergey Kuyun gave his forecast for new fuel prices.
