The government allowed the creation of a National Military Memorial Cemetery in the Kyiv region

The Government of Ukraine has approved the implementation of an experimental project on the construction of the National Military Memorial Cemetery. This is stated in Cabinet Resolution No. 870 of August 19. A national military memorial cemetery should be created by August 30, 2025 in the village of Gatne, Fastiv District, Kyiv Region, which borders with Kyiv.
Two plots of land with an area of 258.73 hectares and 7.96 hectares will be allocated for the arrangement of the cemetery in Gatny. The project coordinator is the Ministry of Veterans Affairs.
< p>The customer of the design works will be the state institution “National Military Memorial Cemetery”.
In October 2022, the KMDA was instructed to develop a site plan for the location of the National Military Memorial Cemetery in the tract “Lisa Hora”, however, activists and the government opposed.
Ultimately, the Kyiv City Council decided that a military cemetery where the defenders of Ukraine will be buried will be opened in Kyiv near the Babyn Yar tract – along Olena Teliga Street.
