The Parliament of Georgia overcame the presidential veto on the law on “foreign agents”. 84 deputies from the ruling Georgian Dream voted – for, 4 – against. The opposition refused to participate in the vote.

Now the document will again be sent to President Salome Zurabishvili for signature. If she does not sign the law by the deadline, it will be drawn up and published by the Speaker of Parliament. After this, the Ministry of Justice and the National Public Registry Agency must create a register of “Organizations representing the interests of foreign forces” within 60 days, reports “Voice of America”.

The parliamentary meeting took place against the backdrop of protest. Since mid-April, such rallies have been taking place every day throughout Georgia, and some of them, according to various estimates, numbered up to two hundred thousand demonstrators. The protest on May 28 is held under the slogan “We will not live by Russian law!”
