Teams from the US space agency joined Boeing Company to deliver the Starliner spacecraft to the launch pad of the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Before the start during the Crew Flight Test mission, technicians placed the Starliner on the United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket.
As part of the manned flight of the Starliner to the ISS, astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suna Williams will be delivered. The mission will start on May 6. The astronauts will spend about a week in the orbiting station's laboratory, and then the crewed capsule will land in the southwestern United States.
After the mission, NASA will begin the final process of certifying the Starliner and its systems for crewed flights to the ISS. Wilmore and Williams will complete their preparations for the flight in Houston, Texas. After April 25, the astronauts will arrive at the Kennedy Space Center.
In March of this year, NASA and Boeing postponed the Starliner launch from mid-April to May. Initially, the flight was planned for July 2023, but it was initially postponed until March 2024, and then – until April.
