The film “The Witch of Konotop” collected $1 million in a month of cinema distribution

The Ukrainian horror film “The Witch of Konotop”, which became the directorial debut of Andriy Kolesnyk, collected more than 42.5 million hryvnias at the Ukrainian box office.

The film “Konotop Witch” tells the story of an ancient witch from Konotop, who brutally kills the Russian invaders – the killers of her lover. Each subsequent death is bloodier than the previous one.

The screenplay for the film was created by Yaroslav Wojcyshek (“Zakhar Berkut”, “Storozova Zastava”, “Mavka. Forest Song”), who is currently serving in the Armed Forces. The film was his directorial debut Andrii Kolesnyka.

“The Witch of Konotop” became the first film from FILM.UA Group's upcoming horror line, inspired by heroines with a mythological background who overcome evil against the background of modern events.

In the first four days of release the film collected 11,960,941 hryvnias at the box office.

The main roles in the film were played by Tetyana Malkova and the star of “Catch Kaidash” and “Black Crow” Taras Tsimbalyuk. Episodic roles were also played by host and soldier Daniel Salem, actors and soldiers Oleksandr Pecheritsa and Volodymyr Rashchuk, as well as veteran dancer and model Nazar Grabar.
