The favorite toy of millions returns in an unexpected format

Bandai released a new Tamagotchi model/freepik

Bandai has released a new Tamagotchi model. It's actually made from real recycled eggshells.

The Original Tamagotchi Celebration digital pet is even colored egg brown, with green and white patterns, pink accents and buttons. This is written by Engadget.

Tamagochi comes from the Japanese words “egg” (tamago) and “clock” (uotchi) – and the toy is unmistakably egg-shaped, so the use of eggshells in particular is quite characteristic of the brand. The model is paired with packaging that also uses recycled paper, and Bandai says the model is in line with its mission to “contribute to an environmentally friendly future”.

Tamagochi is not just another toy with 90s, which millennials fondly remember playing as children. It has quietly made a comeback over the past few years, with both old players and kids contributing to its newfound popularity. In May, the company re-released the Tamagotchi Connection, which old fans may remember as the fake-antenna model, to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

Last year, Bandai released the Wi-Fi-enabled Tamagotchi Uni, which gives users access to the Tamaverse, a virtual gaming universe platform where players can meet others to travel together and dress up their characters.

The original Tamagotchi Celebration doesn't seem to have the more modern features of the Uni, but it has the basic Tamagotchi gameplay.

strong> Players will have to raise their Tamagotchis to adulthood, feed them, give them medicine, clean up after them, play with them and even discipline them if they are cranky.

The game is available exclusively on Amazon, where it already you can pre-order for $30.
