Birštonas – a small town (4459 inhabitants) in the Kaunas County of Lithuania. A balneological, drinking, mud and climatic resort with two sanatoriums, the best medical facilities in Lithuania and the regional park “Nemunas Loops”, which is equipped with paths for runners and cyclists.

Shatsk – a small town in Ukraine, the center of the Shatsk settlement territorial community and until recently of the Shatsk district, and now of the Kovel district of the Volyn region. Population — 5334 people. A resort and recreation center known throughout Ukraine. The village is located in a picturesque area in the western part of the Volynskyi Polissia, surrounded by 30 lakes called Shatskyi (Chorne Velike, Svityaz, Pulemetske, Luky, Lutsymer, Somynets, Karasinets, Ozertse and others).

«Our&nbsp ;communities today have a number of common interests in the field of tourism.  In 2022, Birštonas received more than 190,000 tourists, so we have a lot to learn from it. Today we are preparing proposals for signing a memorandum of cooperation between Shatsk and this Lithuanian city. If the deputies of both communities make a positive decision on international cooperation, our village will get another sister city – Birshtonas, as well as the opportunity to take over his business experience, write joint project applications and submit them to grant competitions of the European Commission.  – Serhii Karpuk commented on the results of the meeting.
