Currently, more and more cars with automatic door locks appear on the roads, but there are also many classic vehicles. In order for the doors to work and not cause complaints, they must be lubricated. Some use the proven WD-40 tool for this, but this is not ideal, since there are special formulations developed for this purpose. One of the most popular is silicone grease. It is available from different manufacturers. The main feature of these products is their durability. After applying the substance to the part, you can not return to this procedure for two seasons. In addition, it has a lower working threshold at around -50 °.
Mineral compositions are also suitable for these purposes, including the domestic “Litol-24”. They also have high performance, but if a thin layer is applied, they can wash out with moisture, and corrosion will begin at this point. Some, however, use cheaper products based on molybdenum disulfide or even treat parts with residues of engine oil. This is allowed, but the effect of these funds will not last long.
Separately, experts emphasized that it is not recommended to use graphite lubricants. They contain abrasive particles, and therefore hinges and locks will wear out faster.
