The European Commission will check whether Apple's devices comply with the new legislation

The European Commission will check the compliance of the operating system of Apple iPadOS devices with all requirements under the new law EU on digital markets.

Evropeyska Pravda writes, the press service of the European Commission reported this. 

The European Commission will begin checking whether Apple has ensured the compliance of the operating system within the specified time. of their devices to all the requirements of the Digital Markets Act (DMA).

In April 2024, the European Commission added the iPadOS operating system to the list of key platforms services.

According to the requirements of the new legislation, Apple must, among other things, allow users to use the browser of their choice on iPadOS, enable the use of alternative “app stores” and allow unimpeded access to all system functions of various accessories, as wireless headphones and smart pens. 

On November 1, the company published a report describing the steps it took to comply with the new legislation.

The European Commission is beginning to evaluate these measures and will determine whether they are sufficient to bring iPadOS into compliance with the law.

In the spring of 2024, the European Commission opened an investigation into Apple, Google and Meta for compliance with the new digital competition rules (DMA). aimed at preventing the monopolization of digital markets by large technological platforms.

In October, the European Commission officially began an investigation into the possible non-compliance of the online sales platform Temu with the requirements of the European Act about digital services.
