The Ethics Commission of the Congress evaluates this Wednesday the final report on the case of the legislator Freddy Díaz, accused of sexually raping a worker from his office in the Parliament facilities.

The extraordinary session of the working group will take place from 8:30 in the morning in a blended manner in the Microsoft Teams virtual room and in Room 2 “Fabiola Salazar Leguía”, located in the Víctor Raúl Haya de la Torre building.

The head of the working group, Karol Paredes, from Acción Popular, had already announced that the final report on the case would be ready on this date of Díaz Monago, who has denied the accusation against him.

If the final report proposes a sanction against the congressman and this is approved in committee, the decision must be endorsed in the plenary session of Congress to be applied. The maximum penalty is 120 days.

Measures against Díaz

It is important to mention that, as a result of this complaint, the legislator was removed from the Alianza Para el Progreso caucus, of which he was a member.

It can also be mentioned that Congresswoman Flor Pablo (Integrity and Development) filed a multiparty constitutional complaint against Congressman Freddy Díaz.

Restriction of leaving the country

In the same case, on August 5, The Supreme Court of Preparatory Investigation issued a 9-month ban on Congressman Freddy Díaz from leaving the country.

Subsequently, the same court declared it unfounded the request of the Public Ministry, which requested to order the preliminary arrest against Mr. íaz Monago.
