The passenger traffic of the airports of the Moscow air hub – Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo – in August 2020 amounted to almost 6 million people, the Federal Air Transport Agency reported. Compared to August 2019, the indicator fell by 46%. At the same time, in July the fall was at the level of 61% yoy.
Most of the traffic in August was carried out within the Russian Federation – 5.3 million people (-3%). 693 thousand passengers were transported on international routes (-88%).
Domodedovo suffered less than other Moscow airports due to the consequences of the coronavirus last month: its passenger traffic fell by 27% year-on-year, to 2.3 million people. The traditional market leader Sheremetyevo served slightly less – 2.2 million people (-58%). Transportation via Vnukovo amounted to 1.5 million people (-44%).
In January-August, the passenger traffic of the three airports decreased by 54%, to 31.2 million people. Transportation through Sheremetyevo dropped by 60%, to 13.3 million people, through Domodedovo – by 45%, to 10.5 million people, through Vnukovo – by 53%, to 7.4 million people.
