The doctor accused of the drug-related death of American actor Matthew Perry has pleaded guilty in the case. Radio Maximum tells the details of the court case.

It is noted that the doctor confessed in court to conspiracy to distribute the surgical anesthetic ketamine. This is reported by the BBC.

Dr. Mark Chavez ran a ketamine clinic and received ketamine pills from a wholesale distributor with a fake prescription. He later sold these pills to Dr. Salvador Placencia, who supplied them to Matthew Perry.

Prosecutors said Perry's assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, worked with two doctors to provide the actor with more than $50,000 worth of ketamine in the weeks before his death. This drug is used to treat depression, anxiety and pain.

Chavez will have his charges reduced for cooperating with the investigation, but he could still face up to 10 years of imprisonment. The doctor agreed to hand over his passport and medical license. He is currently out on bail pending sentencing on April 2, 2025.

Eric Fleming, who is called a “street dealer”, is also involved in the case. Iwamasa and Fleming have already pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing. Another accused is Jaswin Sanghu, known as the “Queen of Ketamine”. She denies her guilt. Drug Enforcement Administration Director Anne Milgram said each of the defendants played a key role in Perry's death by supplying, prescribing and injecting him with ketamine.
