The development of the PS5 version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is still in question, as game director Yevgeny Grigorovich stated that GSC Game World is currently working exclusively on Xbox and PC versions. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is one of the main Xbox exclusives in 2024 and is only available for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
After the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. on November 20, 2 has rapidly gained popularity, demonstrating high sales and player activity in a short time. The high demand for the game is partly due to the long wait for the release, as its announcement took place back in 2010. Just a month after the release, the game has already brought profit to its developer GSC Game World.
Despite its status as an Xbox exclusive, many players were hoping for the announcement of a version for PS5. However, in an interview with Tech4Gamers, Yevgeny Grigorovich noted that the studio is focused on supporting the existing versions for Xbox and PC. He also emphasized that the developers do not comment on rumors or speculation, and the current platforms remain the only ones the team is working on.
Given the technical state of the game at the start, the developers focused on optimization and bug fixes. Since its release, several major updates have been released, including the latest one that fixed nearly 2,000 technical issues. The priority for GSC Game World in the near future remains stability and game improvements, rather than creating a PS5 version.
