The developer of the IRIS-T air defense system presented the Sky Sphere UAV interceptor

Diehl Defense and the Swiss company Skysec brought to the Euronaval 2024 exhibition Sky Sphere interceptor drone. According to Defense Update, the UAV-interceptor produced by Skysec was taken as a basis for its development. The development of the new aircraft was funded by the Swiss Federal Armaments Office.

The interceptor drone works in tandem with a radio-electronic intelligence system or radar. They are used to detect targets. Sky Sphere is intended for defeating small attack and reconnaissance drones and multicopter drones at low altitudes.

Sky Sphere's flight speed can reach 200 km/h. At this speed, he can fly for 4-5 minutes. This is quite enough to destroy targets at a distance of up to 5 km.
