The average cost of one insurance policy amounted to 7.9 thousand rubles, an increase of 7.5%. The average payment per insured event also increased by 7.5%, reaching 15.3 thousand rubles. The number of refusals in insurance payment amounted to 293.4 thousand, having decreased by 14.6%.

Voluntary types of insurance accounted for 84.1% in the structure of all-Russian insurance fees for 9 months of this year (or 1.11 trillion rubles), while a year earlier the figure was 85.7%. The total volume of insurance premiums collected by Russian insurers for 9 months of 2022 decreased by 2.1% compared to the same level last year – to 1.328 trillion rubles. The negative dynamics is due to a decrease in premiums for the period as a whole under investment life insurance contracts (LIS) and accident insurance contracts (AC). At the same time, the growth dynamics of premiums in the sectors of VHI, motor hull, OSAGO, insurance of other property of legal entities and individuals turned out to be positive.

In January-September 2022, total insurance payments increased by 10.1% compared to the same period in 2021, to RUB 646.9 billion. The level of payments was formed in the amount of 48.7%, while a year earlier this figure was 43.3%.

In January-September 2022, the largest share of premiums fell on property insurance – 27.8% of all premiums collected, which is 2.6 percentage points (pp) more than a year earlier. The volume of property insurance premiums increased by 8.1% to RUB 369.8 billion. The observed dynamics was mainly due to an increase in fees for voluntary insurance of land transport vehicles (except for railway transport vehicles) – by 8.5%, to 160.6 billion rubles. Also, fees for property insurance of legal entities and individuals increased – by 8.1%, to 104.6 billion rubles, and by 3%, to 59.2 billion rubles, respectively. As a whole, property insurance payouts amounted to 128.8 billion rubles, having increased by 5.6% in the period under review.

The second largest share in the total structure of premiums was the life insurance sector with an indicator of 27.1%, which is 0.9 p.p. less than in January-September 2021. The volume of premiums collected by insurers in this insurance sector reached 359.3 billion rubles, having decreased by 5.3%. The observed dynamics was mainly due to the high rate of reduction in ILI fees (by 45.4%, to 86.5 billion rubles). Life insurance payments in general amounted to 253.2 billion rubles, an increase of 20.0%.

The third largest share in the total structure of premiums was the sector of personal insurance (except for life insurance). Its share in January-September 2022 amounted to 24.0%, having decreased by 2.9 p.p. compared to the same period in 2021. The volume of premiums under personal insurance contracts decreased by 12.6% compared to January-September 2021 and amounted to 318.7 billion rubles. The reduction in fees was facilitated by the fall in premiums for insurance against accidents and illnesses – by 29.3%, to 142 billion rubles. At the same time, the volume of premiums under voluntary medical insurance agreements as a whole increased by only 7.8% over the period, amounting to 176.8 billion rubles. Personal insurance payments were at the level of 138 billion rubles, having increased by 13.6% over the 9 months of this year. In particular, payments under the National Assembly increased by 33.0%, to 25.5 billion rubles, and under VMI – by 10.0%, to 112.5 billion rubles.

On the share of voluntary civil liability insurance in January-September 2021, it accounted for 2.4% in the structure of fees (the indicator did not change compared to the same period in 2021). The volume of premiums decreased by 2.8% to 32.1 billion rubles.

The share of financial risk insurance accounted for 1.7%, which is 0.3 p.p. less than in the same period of 2021. The volume of premiums decreased by 17.4% to 23.1 billion rubles.

The share of business risk insurance in the total premium structure amounted to 1.1% (it did not change compared to the same period in 2021). The volume of premiums for this type of insurance decreased by 2.0%, amounting to 14.3 billion rubles.

The share of premiums under OSAGO agreements amounted to 14.4% in the total structure of insurance fees, which is 1.7 p.p. more than in the same period of 2021. The volume of OSAGO premiums increased by 11.2% to RUB 191.3 billion. Payments amounted to 116.6 billion rubles, an increase of 4.7%.
