The cause of the new damage to the cable between Sweden and Finland has been clarified

Finnish police have determined what caused the damage to the telecommunications cable connecting Sweden and Finland. This did not occur as a result of criminal activity, Yle reports.

The cable rupture occurred due to construction work. Criminal proceedings will not be initiated in the case.

Elisa has confirmed that the damage to the cable in Vikhti is related to fiber-optic laying work. The faults have now been fixed and the connection has been restored.
