Famous as the first Merlina Addams in the original version of the television series, she also played the same character in the 1977 made-for-television movie Halloween with the New Addams Family and had a role in the telenovela As the World Turns”. Although she played the character for only two years, it set the tone for subsequent iterations of the role, which has become popular again thanks to the hit television series currently airing on Netflix and where the role is played by Jenna Ortega.
Following her role on The Addams Family, Loring, who was born Lisa Ann DeCinces in Kwajelein, Marshall Islands, on February 16, 1958, appeared on multiple shows including The Phyllis Diller Show, The Girl from U.N.C.L.E., Fantasy Island, Barnaby Jones and As the World Turns, where he had a recurring role as Cricket Montgomery.

In 1973, Loring married for the first time at age 15 with her childhood sweetheart, Farrell Foumberg. The following year, she had her first child, but tragedy struck when her mother Judith died of chronic alcoholism at the age of 34.
That first marriage lasted barely a year and ended in 1974. She then married Search for Tomorrow actor Doug Stevenson in 1981, ending in divorce two years later. In 1987, she married adult film star Jerry Butler, and her new husband vowed to give up pornography. However, Butler's continued appearances in adult films, secretly without Loring's knowledge, proved to be a great strain on the marriage, and they divorced in 1992.
As of 2002, Lisa Loring worked in public relations for a hotel and tourism chain in the United States to attend conventions, where she signed autographs and met with fans of the Addams Family. She eventually married Graham Rich in 2003 and divorced him in 2014.
