Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia have proposed the European Commission to include in the eighth package of sanctions against Russia trade and energy measures, as well as new restrictions on SWIFT. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Urmas Reinsalu, in an interview with the German publication Welt.
According to him, the Baltic countries expect this package to be adopted as soon as possible.
We have already made concrete proposals on this issue to the Commission. We are talking about energy, trade, further restrictions on the SWIFT system, and also about adding even more people and organizations to the sanctions lists”, — Reinsalu said.
Earlier, BAGNET reported that the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for expanding sanctions on travels of Russian citizens to Europe. Tallinn intends to propose to the European Commission to introduce the eighth package of sanctions against Russia, which will affect the energy and trade sectors, and will also include visa restrictions for Russians.
