The press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine recently released information that the Defense Forces of Ukraine will conduct tests of an air defense missile that was developed by the Frankenburg Technologies company based in Estonia – such information was discussed at the meeting of the deputy of the Ministry of Defense, General Anatoly Klochka, with the management of the Estonian defense company.
Few details about the rocket have been made public – it is known that it can destroy air targets at an altitude of up to 2,000 m and is primarily designed to counter unmanned aerial vehicles, and the company's executive director Kusti Salm emphasized that it is a new low-cost missile. Probably, the layout of this missile is shown in the photo released by the press service of our Ministry of Defense.
According to the representative of Frankenburg Technologies, if their new weapon model proves itself positively in the hands of the Ukrainian military, then in the future plans there may be a point of production of these missiles in Ukraine, and the discussion of exactly how the production will be financed is also relevant.
< p>Frankenburg Technologies' fairly laconic website doesn't provide any specific details about their air defense missile, but at the same time they emphasize that the company's goal – “to develop missile systems that are ten times more affordable, a hundred times faster in production and in quantities that significantly exceed the available capabilities of the industry”.
200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000That is, in fact, we are talking about a rather ambitious goal to make, first of all, an anti-drone tool, the price which would not amount to tens, let alone sky-high hundreds of thousands of dollars for a missile that should shoot down many times cheaper drones As reported in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, within a few months Ukraine may receive the first samples of Estonian-made missiles.
At the same time, we can cautiously assume that the cost of the rocket from Frankenburg Technologies can reach only a few thousand dollars – the fact is that back in June of this year it was reported that Estonia, based on the analysis of the experience of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, plans to actively create cheap unmanned systems, as well as means of countering these threats.
And one from the points of the plan, there was just an extremely cheap missile against drones, the price of which was announced at the level of about two thousand dollars, which is actually cheaper than most of the drones used on the battlefield – at the same time, it was reported that the new development is planned to be tested at the end of this year.
How successful this development turned out, our military will be able to see in practice, but in the case of success and rapid scaling, it will be very great news, and such weapons in a pair with anti-aircraft FPV drones will be the most effective way to destroy “wings” the enemy.
Previously, Defense Express talked about what kind of anti-UAV missile Ukraine can produce with THALES and why this is a really good decision.
