The Apple Watch Series 10 could get a significant battery life improvement and an updated display

There is good news for Apple Watch users. If you're looking to upgrade your watch, according to sources in the supply chain, the upcoming Series 10 could see a significant increase in battery life thanks to new display technology.

Korean tech publication The Elec reports that the Series 10 will an updated OLED display with low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) and thin-film transistor (TFT) technology will be used. Currently, the Apple Watch only uses LTPO for a few parts of its OLED screen, relying on less efficient technology elsewhere.

Here's the bottom line: The Apple Watch Series 10 is expected to use LTPO more widely. This switch from LTPS to oxide in the driver transistors means that those transistors associated with the display pixels will be made of oxide.

LTPO OLEDs use oxides to minimize leakage current, and this new approach means a wider use of oxides in displays. Manufacturers specializing in oxide technology are likely to benefit from this change. This means longer battery life, which is a major concern for most users.

However, it's worth noting that the newer features of the Series 10 watch may offset the performance gains from the new display. However, the potential for a longer Apple Watch life – this is great news for fans of this device. Apple Watch is the best-selling smartwatch in the world, so it's easy to understand where the company's loyal customers come from.
