Tipster Instant Digital (translated from Chinese) claims in a post on Weibo that the alleged iPhone 16 Pro may have a display that will be 20% brighter than current-generation phones when displaying SDR content, demonstrating the advancements in smartphone technology.
According to the Weibo leak, the iPhone 16 Pro will have a typical SDR (standard dynamic range) brightness of 1,200 nits, which is 20% higher than the iPhone 15 Pro, which maxes out at 1,000 nits for daily web browsing.
However, the phone's HDR (high dynamic range) peak brightness level of 1600 nits and maximum brightness level of 2000 nits are not will change when outdoors.
When Apple publishes device specifications on its website, the tech giant usually lists HDR and non-HDR brightness limit numbers. These numbers show how bright the device's screen will be when displaying HDR and non-HDR content.
