The Acolyte: prequels in preparation

Launched on June 4, 2024 on Disney+, the seriesThe Acolyteis the latest Star Wars series to date. Full of promise, including visiting a new period for the audiovisual format (the High Republic), the series ultimately did not completely convince fans of the saga. Despite some good ideas (notably concerning the lightsaber fights, perfectly executed), the series lacked substance and suffered from numerous errors in rhythm and composition. However, the creator of the series Leslye Headland does not abandon the idea of a season 2, and already teases certain elements that she would like to explore.

While for the moment, the second season of Star Wars: The Acolyte has not yet been made official, Lucasfilm and Disney have plans for some of the characters introduced by the series. Indeed, during the panel organized at the San Diego Comic Con (SDCC), we have just learned of the upcoming publication of two novels. The first, scheduled for July 2025, will have as main characters the young Jedi Yord and Jecki, played respectively by Charlie Barnett and Dafne Keen. A great opportunity to delve deeper into promising characters whose fate has moved many viewers of the series.

The action of the second novel, entitled Wayseeker and for the moment without a publication date, will take place twenty years before the events of the first season of The Acolyte and will be centered around Jedi masters Indara (Carrie-Anne Moss) and Vernestra Rwoh (Rebecca Henderson). The writing of the novel was entrusted to Justina Ireland, author of many Star Wars novels from the Disney era, including several set in the High Republic era, and who was awarded several prestigious prizes for her novel Dread Nation.

A great program, which confirms Disney and Lucasfilm's ambition to expand the extended universe!
