The Acolyte was meant to showcase the High Republic's full potential to Star Wars fans. However, the Disney+ series did not convince the public, to the point of being deprived of season 2. One of the stars of the show has just reacted!

The year 2024 is quite busy for Lucasfilm fans. Between the excellent final season of The Bad Batch last May, the series The Acolyte launched in June 2024, the video game Star Wars OutlawsAt the end of August, the series Skeleton Crew in early December and the video game Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle at the end of the year, fans don't know where to turn. However, despite Lucasfilm's efforts, the too variable quality of the productions tends to annoy fans and create a feeling of suspicion about licenses that have been established for a long time. The failure of The Acolyte is quite telling: the series was based on a solid cast and was supposed to expand the Star Wars universe by addressing a period that had been ignored by audiovisual productions until now.

However, despite some obvious qualities (including breathtaking lightsaber fights), the series was seriously handicapped by both Disney's incomprehensible choice to offer half-hour episodes and by the communication of the big-eared group. Thus, the series was cancelled after its first season. Questioned by the American media Entertainment Weekly, South Korean actor Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game), who plays Jedi Master Sol, shared his feelings about the show's cancellation.

I was personally very surprised to hear the news.As you know, my character was already dead in the first season, so I wouldn’t have appeared in the second season if there had been one anyway. But personally, I really liked Leslye’s writing. I thought she was a great writer and director, very talented in storytelling, as well as creating meaningful characters and structures within the story. So I was really looking forward to a season 2 with her at the helm.

Comments that fans of the series The Acolyte who were surprised and disappointed by Disney's decision will undoubtedly recognize themselves in. For its part, Lucasfilm will go all-out with the series Skeleton Crew, which will pay tribute to the excellent productions of the Amblin Entertainment studio, co-founded by Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy, current president of Lucasfilm. As a reminder, the series will bring together the cream of the A24 stable behind the camera, including the Daniels, who left their mark on moviegoers with Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. We can't wait!
