Thailand tried to launch the Russian payment system Mir, but difficulties arose as the project progressed. Overnight difficulties could not be overcome. In the kingdom, they began to come up with alternative ways to increase the number of tourists from Russia who do not want to carry large amounts of cash with them on vacation. On the island of Phuket, they planned to establish the work of the Mir payment system. This could not be done for a number of reasons, the main of which was the geopolitical situation.

In September, the US Treasury Department threatened to impose sanctions on states that would allow the use of the Mir payment system on their territory. Washington continues to try to block Moscow economically. Many countries refused to serve plastic cards of Russian banks.
