“I want to reiterate our commitment to Deshaun Watson,” Texans general manager Nick Caserio told NFL Network. We have zero interest in trading this player. We have big plans for him and want to spend more time with him. ”
New Texans head coach David Culley also assumes the team will be able to count on Watson as quarterback.
“He’s a Texan from Houston. I want him to be a Houston Texan, Culley told ESPN on Friday, during his official presentation to the media. The reason I’m here today is because I know he’ll be a Houston Texan. ”
According to information reported by ESPN on Thursday, Watson officially asked the Texans to trade him the day after Culley’s appointment as the team’s head coach.
The 25-year-old quarterback has repeatedly expressed his frustration with the Texans’ staff in recent weeks, and has reportedly not spoken to Caserio since being appointed general manager on Jan. 7.
The New York Jets and Miami Dolphins are said to be the favorite destinations for Watson, who has recorded 4,823 flying yards and 33 touchdown passes this season.
