Tesla announced the hiring of new employees to train the humanoid robot Optimus. The company is looking for "highly motivated" people between 155 and 180 cm tall, they will work in a motion capture suit and a VR headset. Salary from $25 to $48 per hour.
The position is called "Data Collection Operator". According to the job description, you need to walk 7+ hours a day with a load of about 13 kg (probably the weight of the suit). Height between 155 and 180 cm is the range that Optimus' projected height (about 174 cm) falls into.
The ability to wear a VR headset for long periods of time is also required for the job. “Constant hand-eye coordination, body coordination and kinesthetic perception” is required. The employee will have to stand, sit, walk, stoop, bend, reach, crouch, climb stairs and return in a suit.
In addition to a salary of up to $48 per hour, the company promises "opportunity to travel up to 25% of the time" and daily regional travel as well as flexible hours. It's worth noting that the job involves only one day off, the possibility of night shifts and overtime.
